New grant to study AGO syndromes

The Independent Research Fund Denmark supports research on Argonaute patient mutations

We are thrilled to announce that the Medical Council of the Independent Research Fund Denmark has awarded a grant of 425,000 EUR to a project investigating human Argonaute patient mutations.

The project explores whether recently discovered mechanisms that control the degradation of Argonaute proteins may sometimes “misfire”, leading to excessive breakdown of certain Argonaute variants. It will also test whether inhibiting these degradation pathways could help restore normal Argonaute function in such cases.

The research is led by Peter Brodersen and Rasmus Hartmann-Petersen at Copenhagen University, with participation from Amélie Piton (Strasbourg) and Davor Lessel (Regensburg) — a collaboration with direct ties to the AGO Syndromes meetings!

Our heartfelt congratulations!
