Building a Global Cell Biobank

AGO Alliance partners with Coriell Institute to launch a global, open-access AGO biobank for researchers

We are thrilled to announce a key milestone in our research roadmap: The AGO Alliance is partnering with the Coriell Institute for Medical Research to establish a centralized, open-access US Biobank!

To develop targeted therapies—such as gene therapies, ASOs, and small molecules—for AGO1 and AGO2, scientists worldwide need fast, reliable access to patient-derived cell models.

While our foundational cell lines remain housed with our valued academic collaborators at the University Hospital of Strasbourg (France) and University of Regensburg (Germany), cross-border sample transfers between continents can encounter months of administrative and customs delays.

Why This Partnership Matters

By joining the NIH-funded NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository at Coriell, we are creating an international distribution hub that unlocks three major benefits:

How Families Can Get Involved

Stem cells (iPSCs) can now be derived directly from a simple blood draw during a routine clinical visit. Alternatively, families can coordinate a small skin biopsy during an upcoming scheduled procedure or surgery under anesthesia for a completely painless experience.

If your family is interested in learning more or donating a sample to advance research for your child's specific variant, check out our updated models page or get in touch with us directly!
