Nobel Portrait video

Portrait of the Nobel prize winners in Medicine 2024, Profs. Ambros and Ruvkun, featuring an Argonaute family

The Swedish national public television released a 20-minute portrait of the Nobel Laureates in Physiology or Medicine 2024, Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun.

They discovered the tiny molecules (microRNA) that help each cell produce the right proteins, so one becomes a heart cell, another a muscle, etc.

Follow along as Victor Ambros meets Daniel, who has Argonaute Syndrome, and his mother Melanie.

We would like to thank the Swedish television for their interest in our disease. Please email us for a private copy with English narration.

If you are not familiar with the function of Argonaute proteins, this one-minute crash course may be for you:

We would like to close with Melanie's touching words, directed at Victor Ambros and his wife Candy Lee as they were about to leave:

You really see Daniel. One of the hardest parts when you have a developmentally disabled child is the isolation. Because people don't see them for who they are.
